Resin Handling & Safety Guide
Resin Handling & Safety Guide
Thank you for choosing Proxy Wargaming Australia resin miniatures!
Our models are printed using high-quality UV-cured resin. Once cured, resin models are safe to handle — however, like all resin products, they should be treated with care.
This guide will help you prep, clean, and enjoy your models safely.
✅ Before Handling
- Wash hands before and after handling miniatures
- Work on a clean surface away from food and drink
- Keep models out of reach of children and pets
✅ Cleaning & Preparation
We recommend cleaning resin models before priming/painting:
What you’ll need:
- Mild dish soap or brush cleaner
- Soft toothbrush or hobby brush
- Warm water (not hot — avoid warping)
How to clean:
- Gently brush the model with soapy water
- Rinse in clean water
- Let the model fully dry before priming
Tip: DO NOT boil or use strong solvents — they may damage fine details.
✅ Sanding & Assembly Safety
If sanding, scraping, or drilling:
- Wear a dust mask
- Work in a well-ventilated area
- Avoid inhaling dust — resin dust should not be breathed in
- Clean your workspace afterward with a damp cloth
Wet sanding helps reduce dust — recommended.
✅ Painting
Once clean and dry:
- Use spray or brush-on primer
- Paint with your preferred acrylic hobby paints
- Seal if desired for extra durability
✅ General Safety Notes
- Do not ingest or chew resin parts (we know some minis look tasty — don’t do it 😅)
- Do not expose printed parts to extreme heat
- Handle with care — cured resin can be brittle and may snap under pressure
✅ Disposal
Resin scraps or sanding dust should be:
- Placed in a sealed bag
- Disposed of in general waste (not down drains)
✅ Health & First Aid
If dust or uncured resin contacts skin:
Wash with soap and water.
If irritation occurs:
Seek medical advice.
If resin dust gets into eyes:
Rinse eyes thoroughly with clean water and seek medical attention if discomfort persists.
